The Physio Therapy Clinic

Gait Analysis Footscan Assessment:

What Is Footscan?

We are delighted to announce an exciting addition to our clinical services at The Physiotherapy Clinic. We have teamed up with Gait and Motion clinics to be able to offer our patients a physiotherapy assessment like no other, using their footscan technology. Foot, knee, hip and back pain is commonly a result of poor biomechanics, often stemming from the feet. If left untreated, these problems can lead to further injury and discomfort. That’s why we have invested in the latest Footscan technology, a cutting-edge system which has been utilised in more than 3,000 scientific studies and is trusted by state-of-the-art movement labs and elite sports teams worldwide, from Team GB to Manchester City FC.

The footscanner is a force plate that measures the exact forces that go through each part of your feet whilst you are standing, walking, balancing, running, squatting and jumping. This gives us a report from which we can decipher precisely where any areas are taking too much load (or not enough load) so that we can tailor a treatment program to resolve your issues.

What Is The Benefit Of Having A Footscan Assessment?

The Gait and Motion Footscan system is the market-leading balance and gait assessment system out there. It provides more data about the forces travelling through your feet in static (standing) and dynamic (walking) situations, allowing us to provide more detailed and accurate treatments to solve your problem.

What Should I Expect?

The physio will lead you through a series of measurements including standing posture, balancing on one leg, and walking over the footscanner. There may be additional measurements depending on your issues, such as jogging, squats, or lunges. This will be determined by the physio at the appointment.

What Will Be The Outcome After The Assessment?

A detailed report will be produced which will outline the areas at risk and the areas that require attention. From this a tailored treatment program will be designed to address any issues that the report might highlight. Treatment can involve a combination of manual therapy, exercises , or if deemed fit we will design you a bespoke pair of Phits orthotics which will be 3D printed to meet your exact specifications using the dynamic data from your Footscan assessment.

Phits 3D-Printed Orthotics

The Phits 3D-printed orthotics are the worlds first 3D printed orthotics that are designed specifically from your dynamic gait analysis using the Gait and Motion footscanner. The results from your footscan report are sent to the lab where these custom insoles are made using the most high spec materials on the market. The benefit of these orthotics is that they are specifically made for your feet to spread the load that is going through them evenly, reducing risk of injury significantly.

Why choose our award-winning Phits 3D printed orthotics?

Data-driven prescriptive design – Traditional orthotics are typically designed using your static foot shape, whereas Phits are the world’s first 3D printed orthotics which are specifically designed based on your dynamic gait analysis using Footscan.

Optimal accuracy – Phits are accurate to the nearest 0.1mm with no room for error in the manufacturing process, providing tailored support and cushioning where you need it most. This ensures exact replicas can be produced if you require a second pair.

Minimal bulk and lightweight – Phits are less than half the weight of traditional orthotics whilst offering extreme durability and comfort, whether you are walking, running or playing sport.

Footwear specific – Regardless of your age or activity level, Phits offers specific designs to cater for your footwear; such as walking, running, football, golf, cycling, skiing and workwear.

Phits for all – Whether you are an elite athlete, recreational walker or factory worker on your feet, Phits will help your feet to adopt the correct foot motion, improve your movement efficiency and minimise your risk of injury.

The choice of champions – Phits are the #1 orthotic choice of multiple British and World Champion athletes; from World Record breaking legends such as Paula Radcliffe, to current champions such as Charlotte Purdue to keep them moving pain free.

Sustainable – As Paula Radcliffe states, “My Phits simply don’t wear out.” Not only are the devices robust, they are 3D-printed via selective laser sintering (SLS) using Bluesint PA12, which is created from 100% recycled powder. This process removes the waste associated with traditional orthotic manufacturing and allows us to work sustainably.
